ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival & transfer to Nyungwe Forest

On arrival in Kigali, meet your driver-guide and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in southwestern Rwanda.  Enjoy this scenic drive through Kigali city with great views of Randa’s rolling hills. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Top View Lodge, One & Only Nyungwe House, and Gisakura Guest House.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & canopy walk

After breakfast, transfer to the Uwinka Information Center for registration and a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. At 8:00, start off on a hike to meet the endangered chimpanzees in the jungle. You will spend an hour in the company of the chimpanzees, learn their behaviours, take pictures and enjoy their company.
Trekking can be done in the main forest or the Cyamudongo forest, but all experiences are worth it.  Other primates you may see include: the chimpanzees, the handsome L’Hoest’s monkey, the endangered golden monkeys, strong troops of the delightfully acrobatic Angola Colobus, vervet monkeys, Silver Monkey, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys and so on. Also, the trek will expose you to excellent birding to see the great blue Turaco and the Rwenzori Turaco, paradise flycatcher, a long-tailed blue, orange and white bird, and the forest hornbills, among others. In the afternoon, join a 2-hour canopy walk to have an epic aerial view of the forest, wildlife, Virunga volcanoes, and neighbouring communities.
Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Day Hike – Return to Kigali – Departure
