Itinerary for the 8 days Uganda Primates Tour
Day 1: Drive Murchison Falls National Park
Breakfast at your hotel around Kampala or Entebbe and embark on our 4×4 Land Cruiser to Murchison Falls National Park with enoure visit to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongora (lunch here), visit to the top of the falls where the mighty River Nile perfects its beauty. Check in your lodge by sunset for dinner and overnight; Nile safari camp/ Paraa safari lodge/ Red Chilli camp / Murchison River Lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking at Kaniyo Pabidi Forest.
Breakfast at your lodge and proceed to Kanio Pabidi Park head quarters for a briefing about chimps and other primates tracking here. Take note of the colourful birds squawking in through the forest canopy. Have packed lunch and then take an afternoon launch cruise upstream the falls which takes around three hours. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight as on Day 1.
Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park.
After breakfast drive to Kibale Forest National Park, lunch enroute and arrive to Kibale by late afternoon or early evening, relax at your lodge as you wait for dinner and at Primate lodge Kiale/ Ndali lodge / Kyaninga lodge / Chimpanzee Guest House / Chimps Nest Lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking Adventure
After an early morning breakfast you will go to Kanyanchu tourist centre and get briefed by the authority guide before you proceed to track chimpanzees in the forest. Chimpanzees are one of man’s closest relations and therefore seeing them is a wonderful adventure. This will take you two to three hours depending on how soon you will be able to see the chimpanzees. The guide will take you through the thick forest and while giving you information about the different tree species in the forest which will make your walk interesting and informative. On the trek, you may meet more primate species such as Colobus Monkeys, Grey Cheeked Mangabeys, grey Galagoes, Vervet Monkeys, red tailed monkeys, Blue Monkeys and also listen to the sounds of about 350 bird species here. Retire for late breakfast and have your packed lunch then proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari lodge / Jacana lodge / Enganzi Lodge / Katara lodge .
Day 5: Kyambura/Chambura Gorge.
After breakfast in the morning, you will go for a nature walk in the Maramagambo Forest to see different tree species, primates, the bat colony and the blue lake. After lunch take a launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel where different animals such as hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and an array of water birds can be seen. Go on the hunt for the tree-climbing lions lounging on old fig trees in the Ishasha region. Dinner and Overnight as on DAY 4.
Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
After breakfast, depart forBwindi Impenetrable Forest passing either via Ishasha, the home of the tree climbing lion, or take the alternative route through cultivated expanses. This will depend on the road situation. Explore the village and the native communities if time allows.Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp / Buhoma Community Rest Camp / Mahogany Springs lodge / Gorilla Resort / Buhoma lodge.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Early breakfast and proceed to the forest for gorilla trekking adventure . The trek is quiet strenuous, going through steep densely forested slippery jungle grounds before encountering the endangered gorillas camouflaged in the dense vegetation. Good hiking boots (water proof) covering up to ankle level are recommended. Relax in the evening while waiting for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Departure
Have early breakfast and start a picnic drive back to Kampala, lunch enroute, stop at the equator for photography, reach Kampala late afternoon, drop off to Entebbe Airport for your scheduled departure flight, or to your hotel in Kampala / Entebbe dinner and overnight.
