Detailed Itinerary;
- Day 1: Mabamba Bay in Entebbe, Transfer to Jinja
Pick up from your hotel in Entebbe, then take a half-day tour to the Mabamba Bay wetland to spot several water birds, including the rare shoebill stork. After lunch, drive to Jinja (2-3hrs), overnight at Nile River Explore Campsite, Sunset Hotel or Jinja Nile Resort.
- Day 2: Full Day water rafting, Night Tour in Jinja Town (optional)
After breakfast, join other tourists for a full-day white-water rafting adventure on the mighty River Nile / Kalagala falls. In the evening, we can take a fantastic boat ride to the source of the River Nile – overnight, as on Day 1.
- Day 3: Transfer to Sipi Falls (4-5hrs)
Picnic drive to Sipi Falls on the edges of Mount Elgon via Mbale. We take an afternoon walk to explore the falls, then stay overnight at Moses Campsite, Lacam Lodge, Rafik Lodge, or Sipi River Lodge.
- Day 4: Explore Pian-Upe Game Reserve
Breakfast and drive to Pian-Upe game reserve for a game safari to see a variety of animals, including species not found anywhere else in the country, such as Cheetah, Roan antelope, and White-eared antelope. Overnight at Uganda Wildlife Bandas, or Kara-Tunga Guest House or Moroto Hotel.
- Day 5: Half day Mount Moroto hiking, relax in the evening
Depending on your interest, we can take a 2-3 hour hike, a half-day hike, or a full-day hike to Mount Moroto. This is another beautiful part of the country and a must-visit while on a safari in Uganda. Overnight at Kara-Tunga Hotel or Moroto Hotel.
- Day 6: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
Another fantastic drive deeper into the country’s farthest national park, Kidepo. The journey passes through beautiful small villages and trading centres, all offering a glimpse of the true African village setting. Overnight at Apoka Rest Camp, Kidepo Savannah Resort, Adere Safari Lodge, Kidepo Safari Lodge, or Apoka Lodge.
- Day 7: Full day Game Safari
Breakfast at the lodge and embark on our pop-up roof 4×4 vehicle with a professional park guide for a full day game drive in the search for early risers and predators before they return to their hide-outs. Expect an encounter with the African Lions, Leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, elephants, Ostriches, to mention but a few. Overnight as on day 6.
- Day 8: Optional activities (Game drive, Visit Ike Tribe, Nature safari walk)
We can hike to the top of Morungole Mountains to meet the endangered tribe of the Ike people, or take another game drive to another part of the park, or take a guided nature walk through the park to appreciate the beauty of this part of the World. Alternatively, we can take a cultural tour around the Karamajongo communities.
- Day 9: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park (6hrs)
Hit the road to Murchison Falls National Park via Kitgum and Gulu towns. Overnight at Fort Murchison Camp, Pakuba safari lodge, Fort Murchison lodge, Paraa Lodge or Red Chilli Rest Camp.
- Day 10: Game Safari, Boat cruise, Hike to the top of the Falls.
A cup of tea or coffee, followed by a fantastic game drive where you may see animals such as the Lion, Leopard, giraffe, buffalo, Elephants, and many antelopes, among others. After lunch, embark on a memorable boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Expect encounters with huge Nile crocodiles, hippos, over 300 birds, herds of buffalo, and Elephants basking along the shores. We can also hike from the bottom to the top of the falls – so amazing!
- Day 11: Chimpanzee Tracking and visit to Boomu Women’s Group
We do chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest or take a birding walk in Kanio-pabidi Forest Reserve! After lunch, spend time with the Boomu Women’s group, experience and learn more about the local culture and ways of life! Overnight at Budongo Eco Lodge or Boomu women’s group homesteads.
- Day 12: Transfer to Kibale National Park (7hrs)
Drive through the Butiaba escarpments or Masindi town to Fort Portal, then connect to Kibale National Park for dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest Camp, Isunga Lodge, or Papaya Safari Lodge.
- Day 13: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Breakfast and assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing on chimp tracking or habituation! All meals and overnight at your lodge.
- Day 14: Community Tours, Crater Lakes Tour or Chimp tracking
It’s a free day with just a few optional activities if you don’t want to rest at the lodge! We can go chimpanzee tracking in Semuliki or Kibale National Parks, guided community tours, the Bigodi Swamp Walk, or visits to crater lakes or historical sites.
- Day 15: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth N.P (2hrs), afternoon boat cruise
After morning breakfast, check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check in to the lodge and in the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. The boat cruise offers exceptional views of birds, animals, and fishing villages. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Katara Lodge/ Enganzi Game Lodge.
- Day 16: Game drive, lunch, visit Katwe Salt lake or Maramagambo Forest
Early in the morning, transfer to the park’s open plains for a game safari. Expect to see numerous animals such as lions, elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, and hippos feeding before retiring for the day.
- Day 17: Game drive in Ishasha Sector -Transfer to Bwindi
Wake up early, have breakfast, and drive to Ishasha sector, home to the tree-climbing lions. Look out for lions in the fig and acacia trees for a memorable experience. Proceed to Bwindi Forest, home to the highest number of mountain gorillas in the world—dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge, Mahogany Springs Lodge/ Buhoma Community Camp or Burunga Gorilla Lodge.
- Day 18: Community walk in Bwindi National Park
Today, you will have a community walk to the neighbouring communities of Bwindi. Interact with local people, learn about their lifestyles and be part of the local livelihood—dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge, Mahogany Springs Lodge, Buhoma Community Camp or Burunga Gorilla Lodge.
- Day 19: Gorilla Tracking Adventure -Transfer to L. Bunyonyi
This is a great day to trek the endangered mountain gorillas. Wake up early, have breakfast, and, with your packed lunch, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on the rules of gorilla trekking. In the evening, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for an overnight stay at Bunyonyi Rock Resort, Acadia cottages, or Bunyonyi Safaris Resort.
- Day 20: Canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi
Wake up early, have breakfast, and enjoy the sunrise. Thereafter, embark on a boat cruise to explore the different islands of Lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight stay as on day 19.
- Day 21: Gorilla Tracking in Mgahinga National Park and Batwa Trail
Today, you will wake up early and transfer to Mgahinga forest for either gorilla trekking or the Batwa cultural trail to experience the traditional forest life of the Batwa pygmies. Dinner and overnight stay in Kisoro.
- Day 22: Cross to Rwanda through Cyanika Border for Golden monkey Tracking
Today, we cross into Rwanda through the Cyanika Border and head to Volcanoes National Park. Gather at the park headquarters for registration and a briefing on golden monkey trekking. Thereafter, embark on a trek to see golden monkeys to enjoy the company of these playful creatures. Dinner and overnight stay at Da Vinci Safari Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge.
- Day 23: Iby’iwacu cultural village and Visit Imbabazi Orphanage
Today, you visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village to learn about Rwanda’s traditions, norms and cultures. Also, enjoy the cultural performance to learn more about Rwanda.
- Day 24: Mount Nyiragongo Hiking in DR Congo
Wake up very early and cross over to Congo for hiking Nyiragongo Volcano. The hike starts at 10:00 am and takes 6-7 hours to reach the summit. Overnight stay at Nyuragongo Bandas.
- Day 25: Descend from Nyiragongo, transfer to Kibuye
Descend Nyirongo, meet your driver-guide at the base, and transfer to Kibuye in Rwanda.
- Day 26: Visit Bisesero Genocide museum, transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Today, you visit the Bisesero genocide museum to remember the victims of the 1994 genocide. Later transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Top View, One and only Nyungwe House.
- Day 27: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk
After breakfast, get your packed lunch and transfer to the Uwinka Information Centre for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. Start the trek to see chimps and spend an hour with them. In the afternoon, join the canopy walk for aerial views of the forest. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
- Day 28: Transfer to Kigali City via the Murambi Genocide Museum
Have breakfast, check out and transfer to Kigali. Stop at the Murambi genocide museum to remember the victims of the genocide.
Spend the whole day exploring Kigali city.
- Day 30: Reserved for Departure
Have breakfast, then transfer to Kigali Airport for your connecting flight.
