Day 2: Hiking Mount Nyiragongo
Get up early in the morning, have breakfast, and then set off for the starting point of the Nyiragongo volcano hike. The hike starts at 10:00 am and can take up to 7 hours to reach the summit. Physical fitness is key in this hiking adventure. Stay overnight at the summit to experience the boiling lava lake, which is clearly seen at night.
Day 3: Descend from Mount Nyiragongo
Early in the morning, you will hike down the slope as you catch a glimpse of most of the mountains’ stunning surroundings and have a night stay at Mikeno Lodge, Bukima tented camp, and many others.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking, Return to Rwanda
Get up early, have breakfast, and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. At 8:00 am, start off the hike to meet the gentle giants in their natural habitats. The hike is quite strenuous, lasting for between 30 minutes and a full day, depending on the location of the gorillas.
