5 Days Primates Jungle Safari to Semliki and Queen Elizabeth National Parks

Day 1: Kampala - Semliki National Park
queen-lionStart an early drive to drive to Semliki wildlife Reserve. The drive will take you down the eastern side of Lake Albert. Situated in the basin of the western Rift valley, Semliki National Park is one of the parks with many habitats ranging from Riparian forests, rain forests to short and high grass savannah, famously known for tree climbing lions. It is also know for its night game drives that reward you with nocturnal dwellers like the white tailed mongoose and slender mongoose, standard and pennant winged nightjars, cats, hyenas, leopards and many more. This is the only place in Uganda where you can do a spot lit night drive. The park generally offers lots of surprises because you never know what you might find. Overnight at Semliki safari Lodge/Kanyankyu Ecological site

Day 2: Primate tracking
Have a cup of tea / coffee and proceed down into the beautiful gallery rainforest to track wild chimpanzees. These are usually tracked at dawn or dusk due to the fact that these apes tend to disappear in the middle of the day. There are also a number of bird species which are found in this picturesque forest. Retire from the chimp search and then in the afternoon you may relax at the pool or go for a game drive as you watch the sun dip. Overnight at Semliki safari Lodge/Kanyankyu Ecological site

Day 3: Semliki - Queen Elizabeth National Park
Game drive enroute as you leave Semliki National park. The journey will take you through the attractive green countryside eventually ascending the Western Rift Valley to Fort Portal. You will then continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will reach in the late afternoon and proceed for a nature walk around the Mweya Peninsula, where you spot game like the Uganda Kob, bush pigs, bush bucks, colobus monkeys and many more. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Institute of Ecology/Simba Rest camp.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park
nile-crocodileHave breakfast to go for a forest walk in the Kyambura gorge in search for chimpanzees and other primates. Alternatively you may go for a walk in the Maramagambo forest in search for primates. You will retire from the walk for lunch at the lodge and then go for a launch cruise in the afternoon. This boat trip will reward you with game like hippos, buffaloes and many waterbirds. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Institute of Ecology/Simba safari camp

Day 5: Final Day
In the morning before dawn you will go for a game drive in the Kasenyi track of the park to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hide outs. Retire from the game drive for late break fast, drive back to Kampala with packed lunch. You will reach in the evening. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
