5 Days Best of Uganda Primates & gorilla trekking Safari with Jungle Safaris Africa
Day 1: Kampala - Kibale Forest National Park
Have early break fast and set off to Kibale Forest National park. The drive will take you through tea and pine tree plantations and homesteads to reach fort portal the district that lies amidst the great mountains of the moon; the Rwenzoris. Have lunch at Ndali Safari Lodge/Rwenzori View Guest house/Kanyankyu ecological centre and later proceed to Kibale forest to track chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 2: Kibale - Ishasha Sector - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Have breakfast, drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Ishasha Sector where you can enjoy big game like tree climbing lions, Leopards, buffaloes, elephants, Antelopes and warthogs among others, reach Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park; the home of Mountain Gorillas in late afternoon. The Park is also known for other primate species like golden monkeys, Mangabeys, L'Hoest's Monkeys, colobus and red-tailed monkeys among others, as well as over 300 bird species. If the evening is free, you will go for a community walk where you will be entertained in some of the cultural dances of the area. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp / Mahogany Springs / Gorilla Mist Camp.
Day 3: Gorilla Tracking; Life changing event
Have breakfast and transfer to the Bwindi park headquarters (with packed lunch and water) for briefing on the dos and don'ts while with the gorillas before setting off to the forest to search for them. The time you will take searching these humble apes in unpredictable but it ranges between 2-8 hours depending on their movement. The activity requires you to go through steep rocks climbing up and down making it tiresome. However, the thrill of encountering these giant apes erases the poor memories you went through in trying to find them. You will stay with them for one hour for observation and photography. Dinner and over night at Gorilla Forest Camp / Mahogany Springs / Gorilla Mist Camp.
Day 4 : Bwindi - Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park, one of the smallest Savannah parks in the country with plenty of antelopes especially the impala from which the capital city of Uganda Kampala- was named. You may have a stop in Mbarara town for lunch and then proceed with journey to the park. You will go for an evening canoe ride on Lake Mburo to see animals and plenty of birds long the shore. Dinner and overnight at Mantana tented Camp / Arcadia Cottages.
Day 5: Lake Mburo - Kampala
After a cup of coffee/tea in the morning, go for an early game drive in search for more animals in the park. You will retire for full breakfast at the park and then set off to Kampala, with a stopover at the Equator for photography, reach Kampala in late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Kampala
